西元1931年父親 Francis Usseglio 從義大利搬到法國隆教皇谷地開始定居,展開家族式的葡萄園種植。在西元1948年之間終於建立了 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils, 他共有兩個兒子 Pierre 和 Raymond,Raymond 後來自創 Domaine Raymond Usseglio, 而Pierre 則繼承了父親的酒莊 — Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils。 葡萄園都是非常優質的老藤葡萄,平均葡萄樹齡在75~87年之間的老藤, 但產量極低,所以釀出的葡萄酒非常集中、強烈。以前父親都將Domaine Pierre Usseglio大部分葡萄酒都賣給了批發商,非常地可惜,自從西元1999年Thierry 和Jean-Pierre Usseglio這對勤奮的兄弟全面接手酒莊後,不斷努力於品質的提昇, 除了導入新設備來更新酒窖之外,多處尋找優越頂尖的葡萄園,目前擁有約24公頃、分為17個區塊的頂尖葡萄園,釀酒方式堅持相當傳統,全部手工採收篩選去梗後,在培養過程中, 採用225公升木桶中陳年15~18個月,然後再放入舊的布根地小型橡木桶中陳年6個月,然後不經澄清和過濾直接就裝瓶,稱為(The Cuvee De Cinquantenaire)! 直到今天 Jean-Pierre 和 Thierry Usseglio,不斷地將酒質精益求精,得到完美的高分也一點都不令人意外!! 屆時酒價要翻幾番恐怕又得讓人望酒興嘆了~~

Pierre Usseglio CNDP Reserve des Deux Freres 2005Robert Parker Tasting Notes: Lastly, the 2005 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres is a more blockbuster-styled effort that has overflowing notes of black fruits, licorice, roasted meats, truffle and peppery herbs. Made from 100% Grenache that saw time in 1-, 2-, and 3-year-old small barrels and demi-muid, it’s full-bodied, gorgeously concentrated and ripe, with big underlying structure. Just now at the early stages of maturity, it too will have 20-25 years of overall longevity.

Wine Spectator Tasting Notes: Formidably dense and structured, with lots of fig paste and currant confiture, layered with espresso, bittersweet cocoa, bramble and hoisin sauce notes. The long, tarry finish really pounds it out authoritatively, with fruit and minerality to burn. Has the power of the previous vintages, but with far better definition. Best from 2009 through 2030. 500 cases made.

Reserve des Deux Freres則使用酒莊最老的葡萄釀造,採用了較多小型橡木桶,新舊都有,也有一部分使用中型橡木桶,陳年過後的酒會經過選取,將品質最優良的幾桶混釀成最終的 Reserve des Deux Freres。

深紅色澤,帶有麝香櫻桃和黑醋栗與茴香香料香氣複雜的交錯著。深色漿果風味伴隨著紅色野莓、藍莓香氣,尾韻悠長散發出蜜棗甘草和薰衣草的華麗風味,天鵝絨般的單寧卻釋出驚人的 Reserve 酒體力量

One of my favorite stops on my trips to the southern Rhone is at Domaine Pierre Usseglio where brothers Jean-Pierre and Thierry Usseglio have accomplished special things. A new state-of-the-art tasting room has been added, somewhat unusual in Chateauneuf du Pape where little has changed in the three decades I have been tasting there. However, the small, discrete Usseglio tasting room would never be compared with tasting rooms that exist in Bordeaux and California.

Domaine Pierre Usseglio CNDP Cuvee de Mon Aieul 2009Robert Parker Tasting Notes: Another wine that got better and better over the evening was the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee de Mon Aieul. I’ve drunk through my fair share of bottles of this over the past few years. It has never shut down and has always shown well. A ripe, forward and sexy wine, it has lots of kirsch, garrigue, exotic spice and floral notes to go with a ripe, concentrated feel on the palate. It certainly has the vintage’s Provencal character and is an exuberant, hedonistic Grenache to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years

Cuvee Mon Aieul 採用來自 “Serres”、”Bédine” 和 “La Crau” 三個頂級葡萄園地塊,葡萄樹齡大約 75~85年的老藤,葡萄全去梗,100% 全新橡木桶陳年,櫻桃果醬香氣,植物氣息,香氣飽含甜漿果,新香料與花香,單寧多而強,重點是越醒酒越見其複雜度,非常棒的一支酒 !
