Eugenio Campolmi 在 西元1970年代就開始在法國布根地和波爾多開始學習釀酒,回到他熱愛故鄉義大利後，於1975年在Bolgheri買下一座葡萄園並命名為Le Macchiole ，只離海岸短短的五公里，大家都知道受到涼爽海風影響。造成日熱夜涼的最佳葡萄生產環境,葡萄園面積約22公頃，採取高密度種植，產量極低，旗艦酒款 Messorio更是一株葡萄樹只生產一瓶酒，可見酒莊對品質的堅持。
酒莊後於1983年成立，經過一番嚐試，剛好迎上了超級托斯卡納風起雲湧的年代。要知道Bolgheri DOC一直到西元是1994才獲得義大利政府成立，Le Macchiole在80年代初期的努力，算是將Bolgheri推上義大利國際頂尖葡萄酒最大功臣之一。此外，更重要的是，酒莊在1991年找來Luca D’Attoma擔任釀酒，他在Merlot表現上最為出色，從Luca 釀製 Tua Rita 酒莊的 Redigaffi，以及 Le Macchiole 的 Messorio ，都是採用100% Merlot，均獲Robert Parker(WA) 和 Wine Spectator (WS) 完美100分！這也讓 Le Macchiole 的地位和 Sassicaia、Ornellaia、Messeto 並駕齊驅。眾多酒莊開始追逐Merlot 之際，Le Macchiole已經走向100%卡本內－弗朗但是此刻，Le Macchiole已有不錯的作品問世，那就是(100% Merlot) 的Messorio 。它帶著釀酒師風格的神秘色彩，更讓內行義大利酒友們高度親睞，成為收藏家的珍藏品和出現拍賣會中的拍品。
2002 年Eugenio 卻因肺癌而辭世，結束短暫41 歲的生命。之後Cinzia 獨自接管酒莊事業，並決定全面性採用有機種植，戮力培育年輕有潛力的團隊，幾年內，酒莊所堅持的專業度、能力、熱情和鉅細靡遺的從種植葡萄到釀製成葡萄酒的一切細節已烙印在每個團隊成員的身上，原因無他，即是生產屬於酒莊獨特風格，不可複製的酒款。此後酒莊的成績已經不能只用”表現亮眼”來形容了，是炫耀奪目！2004 年的Messorio 更一舉奪得Wine Spectator 雜誌100 分的完美評價，實屬不易，讓LeMacchiole 靠著單一品種酒款，站上國際頂級酒莊的行列。

Messorio酒名是於指義大利收成期，當地農作物收成的重要時刻，對酒莊而言就是豐收的精緻葡萄採收。Le Macchiole 酒莊卻只用來釀造Merlot 單一葡萄品種的酒款，無疑是一項棘手又複雜的挑戰！Messorio 被認為是國際間最能代表義大利的Merlot 酒款之一，亦是世界知名膜拜酒款。隨著瓶陳時間的淬鍊，更增添其酒質的優雅與複雜度。

Wine Enthusiast Tasting Notes- Messorio, a Merlot monovarietal, is the winery’s flagship wine. Its initial vintage was 1994, and since then it has receivedmuch critical acclaim, including a 100-point score from the Wine Spectator for the 2004 vintage. Yields are managed tightly throughthe use of low vigor rootstocks and drastic thinning of clusters. The result is a complex wine with austerity, virility and elegant structure. Robert Parker Tasting note: The 2012 Messorio is a drop dead gorgeous wine. Warm summer temperatures have done their part to shape a soft and supple wine that feels like silk sheets against the palate. The bouquet is redolent of red fruit, bold cherry, leather, spice, tar, licorice and grilled herb. The youth of the wine allows you the perspective of contemplating each one of those aromas individually. They will, of course, reach greater harmony and integration as the wine continues its long evolution. This wine reflects beautifully on the magnificence of Merlot in Coastal Tuscany. “
James Suckling Tasting note: This is really fantastic with aromas of black olives, flowers and sandalwood. There’s a clarity and precision to the wine. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a chewy and structured finish. A muscular merlot with tone and tension. Better in 2017.”
