Montevertine 酒莊位於托斯卡尼 Tuscany Chianti 海拔425公尺 中心地帶,西元 1967年從事鋼鐵業的莊主 Sergio Manetti,他實在太熱愛葡萄酒,到處尋覓著良好葡萄園種植地塊,皇天不負苦心人,終於被他找到一塊小農地,種植面積不到2公頃,起初只是單純想釀造一些葡萄酒分享給朋友和客戶。 Sergio Manetti 首次釀製的葡萄酒於1971年問世,透過當地Siena商會的協助,他將第一次釀葡萄酒在維洛那(Verona)所舉辦的葡萄酒展覽會場上展出,受到了消費者熱烈的讚賞,由於銷售情況越來越好,數年後 Manetti 索性轉行全心全力投入到葡萄酒的釀造。

1960年代是古典奇揚地(Chianti Classico)最困難的時代,當時只獲得法定產區(DOC)的評價,因為當時法令規定古典奇揚地要加入30%的白葡萄酒,其結果品質普遍不佳。Manetti 當時便極力反對!他寧可自己的酒被評定為餐酒等級(Vino da Tavola,Table Wine),也不願意在紅酒中加入白酒,寧願在酒標上標示「Red Table Wine from Radda in Chianti」,但他的「餐酒」,卻在各種葡萄酒比賽中屢屢獲獎,尤其是旗鑑酒 Le Pergole Torte,不僅獲得義大利酒的權威《Gambero Rosso》三個杯子的最高評價,更獲得【 Robert Parker、《Wine Spectator》 98分的讚賞! 獲得許多義大利葡萄酒獎牌】- 在他的專注努力下,釀出的酒受到酒評家的讚賞並稱為【超級山吉歐維榭 Super Sangiovese】
